It seems one of the best ways to draw attention to a post or commentary on Java and programming is to use the words “Java” and some variation of “dead” in the headline. For instance, Mark Little, senior director of engineering at Red Hat, recently wrote a blog post entitled: “JBoss polyglot — death of Java?” And although the headline suggests that Red Hat’s JBoss unit is pushing a polyglot programming strategy of using several languages for different projects, the gist of the post is that the company is not trying to move away from Java. In fact, Little makes it plain: “We're as committed to Java today as we've ever been.” Oracle, the owner and steward of Java, is even encouraging Java supporters to use other languages on the Java virtual machine (JVM). The Da Vinci Machine Project is an effort to extend the JVM with first-class architectural support for languages other than Java, especially dynamic languages.

The role of the test design to test the project is difficult to overestimate. Without a good set of optimal test Keizo can spend a lot of time to execute manual tests as well as for automation of unnecessary tests.

Often, the test design is developed, or without any methods at all, or with gaps in coverage, or to an excessive number of test cases. Testing in which the input we receive a lot of different options, and the result is directly dependent on it (the configuration tested, for example) require, as a rule, use one of the methodologies for developing tests.

So you’ve had enough of failed projects. You like the sound of agile development as an alternative. You buy into the key principles and you’re ready to take the plunge.

Which methodology should you go for?

I don’t have any official stats on which agile methodologies are most widely used, but there certainly seems to be much more of a buzz about eXtreme Programming and Scrum, at least on a global basis.

So which is right for you, eXtreme Programming (XP) or Scrum?

As you all know, PHP is an open source language that will cost you only the hosting cost for application development. ASP.NET is a Microsoft technology where you will have to purchase the development environment which is Visual Studio. There are many advantages that I have seen in ASP.NET over PHP.

Ease of development

Development is always easy with the available server controls in ASP.NET apart from the user controls. This makes data management very much efficient and reduces the coding effort. These controllers are inbuilt available with Visual Studio and no need of finding them as external plugins. For example, a table with editing, deleting and insertion abilities is just a drag and drop of a server control named grid view. Comparatively, a PHP developer will have to give an effort for few hours to get this done.

How many times have you refreshed the graphics or content of your small business website? Twice? Once? Not at all?

Many businesses are still hosting first-generation sites that went up at the turn of the millennium. The majority of these sites are passé by today's "make-it-useful" standards. Sometimes embarrassingly so. Internet-savvy businesses will refresh the content on their websites regularly. Think about the impression a site that's a year out of date will have on visitors.

If you’ve read any basic agile stuff, you know that agile teams deliver value in a consistent frequency. The team works on what’s important first, giving the best value for money. When working in a consistent velocity, you can estimate very accurately when features are going to be delivered.

Prepare yourself for a shock!

It is true that when the team has gelled, had enough experience in estimation, and is moving in a constant velocity, life is good. But most people are not there. Chances are, that you’re struggling with inconsistent estimations, varying velocity, some turn over for good measure and enough unknowns to fill  multiple buffers in a Gantt chart.

Banned iPhone Apps

3 October 2011

Apple Inc. has removed a mobile app, called "Jew or Not Jew?" from its online App Store in France. Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr said the app did violate local law, so it was removed from the French App Store. It is still available outside France, however, and currently sells for $1.99 through Apple's US App Store.

Apple has removed numerous apps from the App Store since it launched in mid-2008 for violating myriad restrictions it imposes on developers. Take a look at other notable apps that ran afoul of the company's screening process.

Cities could soon be looking after their citizens all by themselves thanks to an operating system designed for the metropolis.

The Urban OS works just like a PC operating system but keeps buildings, traffic and services running smoothly.

The software takes in data from sensors dotted around the city to keep an eye on what is happening.

In the event of a fire the Urban OS might manage traffic lights so fire engines can reach the blaze swiftly.

The idea is for the Urban OS to gather data from sensors buried in buildings and many other places to keep an eye on what is happening in an urban area.

Your ideas for Android or iOS apps could make you money, via the free FundedApps application. But you'll have to pay to submit your ideas.
Price: free for app; £1.49 per idea (iOS and Android)

If there’s a major weakness in Android, it remains the lack of really superb apps. Where there is a massive increase daily in the number of apps available, it’s the lack of real polish and finesse in many that plagues Android. That’s surely why even Andy Rubin, Google’s man in charge of Android, was still describing the entire platform as ‘for early adopters’ relatively recently.

The development of new technology starts from a marketing perspective. It is important to know what you are building before you build it. Business Analysts’ are constantly asking the question… What does the market want? Knowing the answer is the key to success. Documenting the facts and key features is the essence of the requirements document. It is best written by business analysts and marketing professionals.

The requirements document is the first document that is used to build a technology. According to  Wikipedia.com the Product Requirements document (PRD) is designed to allow people within a company to understand what a product should do and how it should work. This document directs the development team in what the needs are and is used to create the technical specifications.
