It seems one of the best ways to draw attention to a post or commentary on Java and programming is to use the words “Java” and some variation of “dead” in the headline. For instance, Mark Little, senior director of engineering at Red Hat, recently wrote a blog post entitled: “JBoss polyglot — death of Java?” And although the headline suggests that Red Hat’s JBoss unit is pushing a polyglot programming strategy of using several languages for different projects, the gist of the post is that the company is not trying to move away from Java. In fact, Little makes it plain: “We're as committed to Java today as we've ever been.” Oracle, the owner and steward of Java, is even encouraging Java supporters to use other languages on the Java virtual machine (JVM). The Da Vinci Machine Project is an effort to extend the JVM with first-class architectural support for languages other than Java, especially dynamic languages.

So you’ve had enough of failed projects. You like the sound of agile development as an alternative. You buy into the key principles and you’re ready to take the plunge.

Which methodology should you go for?

I don’t have any official stats on which agile methodologies are most widely used, but there certainly seems to be much more of a buzz about eXtreme Programming and Scrum, at least on a global basis.

So which is right for you, eXtreme Programming (XP) or Scrum?

The one of the most important meta tag is Title,  usually it is placed at the beginning of site code and search engine will show its text as a direct link to your website. It is essential to remember that this tag is most important tag for your website since it will show the user the content of your page. It looks like that <title>IT Catalogue-the open directory of IT companies</title> You should remember that the number of characters in this tag should be no more then 60, and it should consist of your key words, but not repeating one word. Text should be user-friendly, since it is created not only for search bot, but also for the user and on this content depends if the user will visit your site or not. It will be great if you create original tag title for each page of your website, this will provide the full view of your site content and help user navigation. Never use upper case at the all letters in your title, the user don't like it.

If you could make only five backup files, which five would you choose? Would you choose the system files, the media files, or something else. Which are the important files to backup for you?

I highly recommend that you start with these five essential backup files:

Registry.DAT—Home Of Your License Keys

You've probably bought a bunch of software for your computer—you may even have paid more for software than you paid for your computer.

But, if you're like most people, you didn't bother to keep track of your license keys or other information necessary to unlock your computer programs. That's ok—Windows kept track of it for you in REGISTRY.DAT (also known as the Windows Registry file).

Using an application's built-in uninstaller sometimes isn't enough. A downloadable utility can help clean up what remains.

So you tried out some software, hated it, and tried to uninstall it, and now it's leaving remnants in your Start menu.

It's not uncommon to find leftover files, folders, and even Start menu entries after you uninstall a program. That's because, like messy children, a lot of uninstallers do a poor job of cleaning up after themselves.

The solution is to use a brute-force uninstaller, a utility that removes not only the application but also all of the pieces it leaves behind. The free IObit Uninstaller (http://www.iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.html) , one such tool, vacuums up files, stray Registry entries, and more.

Virtualization is an emerging IT paradigm that embarks storage and recovery of applications apart from computing functions and technology implementations. It has seen a tremendous growth since its inception a few years ago and continues to expand its cloud on various enterprises.

The growth of Virtualization rests upon a number of factors. But before diving deep into details, it is important to chalk out how “growth” can be triggered and maintained. Infact, One of the virtualization companies who responded to my request for information questioned analysts, “What exactly does ‘emerging’ mean?” A general response to this question is that growth is gauged by crawling up the success ladder into the top slot. Sticking to the IT sector per say, Microsoft is one remarkable example. Microsoft completely revolutionized the IT sector by introducing Windows. Furthermore, despite the tremendous success, Bill Gates ensured that the graph of his company never attained constancy. Microsoft has always dared to experiment and has emerged victorious most of the times. Windows 7 swayed away the corporate sector apart from the masses in general. Similarly, Virtualization has reached a pedestal in 2010 by experiencing an increase of growth rate by 8% within a year.

Internet users never learn. No matter how many times we hear about obvious, hackable passwords, people keep using them. And the situation doesn't seem to be getting better.
Below is a list of the 25 worst passwords, compiled by SplashData. The security software developer generated the list from millions of actual stolen passwords, posted online by hackers. Not surprisingly, the most common passwords are also the worst, including "password," "123456" and "qwerty." Even passwords that seem kind of unique, like "trustno1" and "shadow" are actually quite common. And why does "monkey" always show up on these lists?

How many times have you refreshed the graphics or content of your small business website? Twice? Once? Not at all?

Many businesses are still hosting first-generation sites that went up at the turn of the millennium. The majority of these sites are passé by today's "make-it-useful" standards. Sometimes embarrassingly so. Internet-savvy businesses will refresh the content on their websites regularly. Think about the impression a site that's a year out of date will have on visitors.

Many people who start out writing tests get hung out the semantic difference. What is a unit? When does a unit test cross the border to integration land? Is it a narrow border or a wide plateau between them?

For me, it’s never been about the type of the test. It’s about its purpose.

Integration tests are great for knowing that the components in your application work together correctly. That’s their big advantage over unit tests. However, they also have a couple of disadvantages:

If you’ve read any basic agile stuff, you know that agile teams deliver value in a consistent frequency. The team works on what’s important first, giving the best value for money. When working in a consistent velocity, you can estimate very accurately when features are going to be delivered.

Prepare yourself for a shock!

It is true that when the team has gelled, had enough experience in estimation, and is moving in a constant velocity, life is good. But most people are not there. Chances are, that you’re struggling with inconsistent estimations, varying velocity, some turn over for good measure and enough unknowns to fill  multiple buffers in a Gantt chart.

CRM Buyer

Too often, companies use CRM only to manage customer data as a tool for sales. That's certainly one good use for CRM, but that's like buying a car and never shifting out of first gear. It's useful to a degree, but it amounts to a missed opportunity. Here are three opportunities you'll miss if you use CRM merely for SFA.

One of the great conundrums about CRM is the disconnect between its stated intention and what it's usually really used for.

If there is one segment of the entertainment industry that has had the biggest effect on popular culture in the last forty years it is the videogame industry.  Virtually non-existent four decades ago, today the videogame industry is worth $65 billion dollars and is growing faster than the film industry.  Today we have films, toys, books, TV shows, and all manner of mass-merchandising products that have been based on videogames.  There are entire trade shows dedicated to new games and hardware.  Today we look at the 16 most important and influential games in videogame history and see how the videogame industry evolved from humble beginnings to the juggernaut that it is today.  These may not necessarily be the best games (although most are very good) but they all played important roles in the shaping of industry as we know it today.  The games are listed in chronological order.  And why 16?  Because I could not narrow it to 15!

From time to time you might need to interview somebody for a Linux role. It's hard to think of good questions; you don't want to scare somebody with your questions, but you do want to know if the person is knowledgable.

Questions for a junior.

"People that use your Linux server complain it's slow. What tools would you use to check resource usage?"

The active growth of outsourcing in Eastern Europe is now one of the main sources of investments to the development of IT industry in the post-Soviet countries. It is nice to think that this trend will continue in the future, and we will get investments for years to come. But global competition is forcing us more and more to improve the quality of "service". This is working when the code and the product is the only one point from the list of obligatory deliveries to the customer. I'll try to give an analogy from our IT-world and as an illustrative example, select the evolution of software testing. Now there is an active process of evolution of the understanding what is testing of software products and how it should happen. The notion of "testing" has expanded and acquired an incredible number of subspecies: functional, non-functional, regression, reliability testing, stress testing, etc. But the main vector of development testing is integration testing in all phases of development life cycle. The consequence is the emergence of the concept of "cross-functional teams (hello Agile methodologies),«white-box »testing (unit and integration tests) and automated tests. That is, if you look at the outset, the self-testing of single activity (often at the very end of the project) has become a continuous process which is "surrounded" the software development process from all sides: testing requirements, regression testing, acceptance tests, quality requirements etc. The quality of the products has improved, and the cost of correcting defects has fallen, leading to increased profits and competitiveness of the team. What is happening in the relationship with the customer? As our team is going to win the competition? Let's look at the processes that affect the level of service provided in the IT-companies. For example, take the standard model of outsourcing the construction business: Sales of services (engaged in sales / marketing)
